First Local Anaesthetic Delivery

Bliss.

Acting cool and calm on the outside... totally stressing and freaking out on the inside. When I reached for the Lignocaine Special anaesthetic solution, I was trying really hard to remember everything about giving an infiltration LA. O M G. Most frightening but exciting experience ever!

I guess it was a good thing that my patient did not know that it was the first time that I administered LA to someone outside of dental school. I have practiced injecting on my buddy... but not on a on-the-job basis.

It was exhilarating.

Whoa, what an experience.

Teehee.

Otherwise... today was quite relaxed and enjoyable. I just love clinic. Today I had 2 gorgeous patients come see me for some periodontal debridement. A lot of yummy calculus, blood and gore. Yum. Teehee. I love talking to patients... their company makes my day.

=)

To note... walked home... actually, was given a lift home... by a special someone. *glows*

Peaceful Thursday Morning

University warranted self directed learning (SDL) session. After a night of not too rigorous dance rehearsal, though tempers are flying, having no specific commitments this morning feels wonderful.

The sun is shining a little today. Light rays breaking through the window pane and lightening the mood of the room will lift anybody's mood. Including mine. Not quite good at providing warmth, as the design on the house entirely impedes its efforts. However, simply seeing the lifted clouds and bright blue sky is enough to imaginatively warm one up. Including me.

Chill out music list playing in the foreground. Some good ballad R&B beats, a few slow ballad pop tunes... a very relaxed study environment. Study. I guess I am fulfilling the requirement of a self directed learning session. Good thing no?

Sickness is slowly leaving. So is the rash. The anti histamines have worked quite well. Last night may have pushed my body a little too far. My voice came back yesterday, so I was too excited and may have strained it at dancing last night. Not that dancing has anything to do with my voice. Another early night tonight should work some magic. Hopefully.

I really want to go running!

Still sick.

Has been about a week now. Still not fully recovered. Sigh.

Started off with a fever. Then a runny nose hit. Then came a sore throat that has persisted till today. Haven't been exercising/running in the past week. Feels horrible. Really horrible. Feel so unfit now. *shivers*

Anyway, back to the throat. Kept having phlegm attacks when I was seeing patients. As in, I had to clear my throat for an extended period of time before I could speak to my patients. I wonder if they were worried that I was sick. Did they even notice? Hope not. *gulps* Shouldn't go into clinic when I'm sick... but it's dental school, so unless I'm dead, I'll be there. And I love patients. Clinic's the best. =)

So after a few restorative, 1 ortho and 1 endo session later... I'm still here, coughing. What is going on? The rash is still here too. I think it really is that golden zucchini. What a weird culprit. The itch is disrupting my sleep. Sigh. Been sleeping so much lately, trying to get better ASAP so I can go running in the morning again and enjoy dancing without coughing.

Get better! EEEEEEEE... and debating whether to attend GV Black's birthday celebration or not.

So many thoughts racing through, just writing it down... so distracted from homework. Don't feel like it. Really want to solve the sickness and rash mysteries. It never takes this long to recover!

Dance rehearsal to look forward to tomorrow! So excited! =)

Currently loves: Chai Lattes. Mmmnmnnmmnmnmnnn...

is sick.

[see title]

Still went into clinic/uni today... in dentistry, it's best not to miss anything.
Too many processes... so unless you die, do not miss out on things.
Haven't been sick this much in one year.
I think I blame the over doing of things.
The over stressing of things.
The over loving of things.
The mind is willing, the body can't take it.
Stupid sleep needing body.

If I did not love teeth this much, I would not recommend this course to anyone.

It's so rewarding though. I love my patients. =)

Early finish

Ahh... good old General Medicine... early finishes for the win!

Teehee... so have been busy with uni again. No more artistic free time. Sigh.

Uni has been good so far. Clinic session on Monday was a success, except I couldn't progress as far as I would have liked to, but overall it was a good experience. =)

Mass lectures have been happening lately, so must keep up with the work. Reading and making a lot of notes... so haven't had time to write here. Eyes are definitely getting worse... finding myself squinting quite a lot nowadays. Reading glasses are not of high enough power anymore. Sigh astigmatism... sigh those genetics.

Recently been trying to make retard sound like ritard... so pronouncing the noun as its verb form... apparently it's from the movie Hangover. Teehee. It will happen!!! It sounds quite epic... so yeah. Teehee.

Recent thoughts...
1 Stress, stress, stress... teeth, teeth, teeth
2 Sunshine! =)
3 That dude that I have a crush on... really staring? I still reckon it was where I was sitting.
4 Loving Be With You by Wilber and Akon
5 Dance, dance, dance... cannot commit so much!
6 Belle should be back from Melbourne!

And... to finish off... just to show how epically genetically modified oranges can get, this is what Ben brought home yesterday. Oranges that I cannot grasp with one palm and hand. O M G. Grapefruit sized.

Last of the parties + procrastination

After a fairly relaxing AIMI week at uni... Saturday came. Ben's 21st!

Wednesday and Thursday night were both dance training nights too; and the performance before training on Thursday for Red Cross was quite a beautiful epic failure, as our costumes WOWed the audience... but there was not really a stage as such, so it was an awkward foyer performance with pillars and people surrounding the peripheries. Megan Gale was supposedly there and saw us perform from the front- however none of us saw her and did not manage to take a picture. Boo. On the plus side, we saw HOT footballers from the West Coast Eagles. Quite an interesting experience. Teehee.

Training has been quite hardcore. Lao Shi's totally lashing out her fierceness and she is totally stressed-flat-out about that upcoming huge production... so we are on the receiving end of it all. It is good to be serious... but when it becomes harsh... that's just uncalled for. Sigh. Oh well... such is life, let's move on. So after doing about 60 bend backs this week in total, my back is suffering quite dramatically. Plus the party dancing last night = epic overkill.

Before the back pain story, here's the story about last night. Ben's 21st birthday river cruise. It was SO MUCH FUN. The theme was blacklight, so everyone was dressed stylishly white or in outrageous fluro colours or in the ultimate combination of both. Teehee. Liong wore a white and green striped shirt with a white belt, and I did a hip hop combination with a white wide-brimmed hat to complete the look. It was awesome. Glow sticks FTW.

The night was filled with yummy food (mnnnnmnmm), good music, crazy back-breaking dance moves, tasty conversations and laughter all around. Oh yeah, and multiple molesting Ben episodes. Now they were epic. Poor Ben. Teehee.

After the cruise, we headed off to Metros. M City apparently. Sigh. Can I not be associated with that place please? Last night was the first time I actually went on a proper Metros night. Music was good and bad (ups and downs) and the dance competitions were pretty epic fail. The more slutty, the more cheers. Ewww. Anyway, I had an awesome time celebrating Ben's 21st with him and friends. I wonder if we got a homies photo together in the end... too tired right now to remember.

Met a new friend, Karrthik, one awesome... but awkward guy. Teehee. So hilarious. We were staging plans to strip Ben's top... the only bad thing I was up to last night. I think. Anyway, it was hella fun hanging around with him. And also with Mark and Rohan... Dream Team apparently. Sigh. Teehee.

Well... didn't get home till 4am something... and had to wake up to do the endless pile of reading/homework/essays... good old dentistry is back. Last night probably marked the last of raging parties for a while. Good times. I love memories like this. This is what one's brain should be filled with. Keeps one sane. =)

And back is in epic pain, after standing and dancing the whole night (6+ hours maybe?), can't even prop myself up, must lean back on chair with back support, i.e. sit on my bed against the wall. Sigh. Heal back, heal! Knee is in slight pain too... too much running... too much dancing... poor supporting leg. =(

and procrastination... ends now.

Random thoughts that have been circulating

1. Why do jeans feel tighter after washing and looser after wearing?
2. Why do seagulls tuck in 1 foot when standing? Looks missing.
3. Why do people assume things so easily?
4. Why can some people not feel and detach? Are we not all meant to feel?
5. Why must people be greedy and have wants?
6. Why do hot showers heal hurting muscles? As does cold water?
7. Why some songs never get out dated?
8. Why are everyone individuals? Are animals and plants the same?
9. Why is receiving messages so exciting?
10. Why are there more awkward situations encountered when one grows up?
11. Why can't we not help but judge?
12. Why do we need to feel belonged?
13. Why do some people click and some never?

Mnmnmn... so many random things running through my head right now.

Ben's 21st birthday party's coming up! SO EXCITED. We just checked out some stuff together...

I love my homies.

Easing back into it

Firstly... last of those awesome/random photos:

When I was at Mum's, I didn't have socks... so I borrowed hers and wore it to dance. Epic.

Fruit platter! Dad enjoying the curry laksa we made. Yes, Dad does exist. XD

Today finally came. Wasn't too bad. Ups and downs as usual. Totally flunked the endodontic diagnostic test.
So bad. However, the up was that my group and I got 85% for our literature review assignment! WOOOO! Pretty much all good comments and first box ticks too... FTW! Hehe... that was awesome.

Today was the start of AIMI week and half of us listened to speeches whilst the other half worked on their group presentation for tomorrow. 'Corageous Conversations' is the theme of the week. Quite interesting. I learnt new things and became more aware of issues surrounding culture, racism, prejudice etc... quite useful for the our society, as we do live in a very multicultural society. Intriguing.

Today was also a splendid day that I got to meet up with Jane! She's stopping over here before setting off to China today/tomorrow to climb The Great Wall. We had a nice warm lunch at Dome during the cold and rainy day... and we talked and talked. Teehee, I love that girl. She even bought me a present from Egypt! Oh yeah... she was in Engypt before this, by the way. Lucky girl. Tehee. She bought me a pendant with my name in hieroglyphics! It's sooooooo awesome. I wish I could wear jewellery in dentistry. I shall treasure that pendant.
Buddy, thank you so much! *hugs*

H-u-i. Awesome.

Today turned gloomy after half a week of sunshine. Today marked the start of semester 2. Today was when I saw everyone again. Today means the start of hardcore study and effort. Today is exactly 5 months after my birthday. Today was a fabulous experience.

Today... priceless.

It all starts again tomorrow

Last day of holidays.

Semester 2 is just 1 sleep away now. I'm actually really, really scared of next semester. The work load involved, the upcoming assessments... all 4th years reckon half way through the degree is after 3rd year is over.

Let's make the most of it. =)
I shall work hard at my passion.
I will try my best.

Dancing just turned hardcore recently too. I have to train at least 2 times a week, sometimes maybe even 3 times. All because of that October performance. I suppose it is quite significant... but... dentistry is still >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> dance in reality. If I want to perform though, I have to put in the extra time or else I won't be able to keep up and perfect the moves with the others. What a dilemma. Both are my greatest passions, yet there is still a rank and prioritization is necessary. Sigh.

Today... I decided to take it off. What the heck, it's the last day of holidays. Might as well spend it with people I love and not stress too much yet, as that will come aplenty later on. Teehee. What awesome reasoning right?

Turns out my aunties are visiting anyway, so it was awesome to catch up with not only my immediate family, but also important persons of my extended family. We went for dim sum lunch, then we set off to Harbour Town for some retail therapy.

It was the weirdest combination of people.
3 generation of women- Grandma, Mum/2 Aunties, me.

I had a fabulous time though! Surprisingly, I had so much fun! We walked around and browsed through different shops... even though we all looked at different things in 1 shop, we all managed to enjoy ourselves in each of the shop we entered. Age did not seem to make a difference at all! In the end we all bought something (except Mum... I think) and carried bags full of goods home. 5 women from 3 generations... shopping... epic. Just epic.

Hehe... I then had dinner with my family before coming home. Getting ready for it to all start again tomorrow. I finally tackled my wardrobe and tidied it up. No longer a landslide, melodramatic door opening. All ready to go... for relief in my future busy life.

Some random photos to upload. Didn't take any photos from today's awesome event. One more thing to note... the guy who helped me out at the
Nike store, Stefan, was SO GOOD LOOKING. Greek God type chiseled features, tall, nice colour schemes, nice voice... it was OMG HOT. So hot.

Swarovski lock... no wait... it's a 1GB USB DRIVE! WOOOOO!

Me riding in a MX5. That's right. XD

A bit disappointed

Not in such a good mood for writing. I'll just load photos.

Short synopsis of yesterday though. The last friendship post came about after being with Gem yesterday. We spent a good 5 hours or so catching up, shopping, having fun. It was awesome. We just talked and talked, made fun of each other, gave each other opinions on things we wanted to buy etc... just a good girlie day out. I had such a good time. We bought bubble tea and the cute Gem was so excited when we got her Jay Chou Sydney Tour card swiped at Ezyway for future bubble tea points. Sigh but teehee. Anyway, pictures from yesterday will be here and some other things that were awesome.

Our dodgey/unsatisfactory bubbles teas. Noob maker. Me and Gem! =)

CHECK OUT THE CHECKERED SIDE VIEW MIRRORS! *drools*

Sorry that I'm not writing more quality today... just checked results and not as ideal as I wanted it to be. Slightly disappointed... but as I was on the phone to Mum, I cried. I guess deep down I'm actually quite disappointed at myself.

Cheer up Hui.

When things click and work

Friendship.
Such a strange concept.
Hard to define, yet wonderful. Hard to ascertain, yet comforting.
Hard to measure, yet occupational.

Out of nowhere, "friendship" hits one directly in the face. No warnings, no precautions. It just happens. Most of the time a fabulous surprise; other times not quite so. It could bring about happiness, joy, laughter, tears of joy... it could also bring upon tears of sadness, depression, unpleasantness, annoyance.

So what is this "friendship"? How does it present itself and contradict itself?

Everyone will have a different answer. To me, I'm going with the flow. Fate. It doesn't require explanation, it doesn't require questioning... it will bring upon whatever it is set out to in the first place, and all I have to do is accept or reject it. There is still a choice despite the orchestration of fate.

So grateful for the awesome friendships received. Also grateful for those not so great ones, it lets me learn and helps me grow. So much can be learnt about the world and human interactions through friendships. Even the nice ones are nurturing, obviously.

When "friendship" knocks on one's door and it all clicks, nothing in the world quite feels as special as it. =)

Canningvale Markets Experience

This market place is epic.

Somehow I was craving this Chinese dish that Mum makes. It's a mixture of chicken liver and preserved/pickled vegetables, with maybe some other added natural flavours. Living with Mum last week meant that whatever I wanted to eat, Mum would make it for me. Teehee. So spoilt. I told Mum I really wanted to eat this dish, so we headed off to the markets where there is guaranteed sale of chicken liver.

Za Jing Jiang mixed with chicken liver- YUM.

The butcher there is massive! Makes Leonard's look epic fale, even though it has a nice set up and uniform. Anyway, I took many-a-photos of the weird and wonderful items available for sale. Some were fairly surprising to me... as I thought people here wouldn't eat those animal parts.

Not as scary as the time of when I was in Guangzhou though. We walked pass a shop that had many animals in cages- cats, rabbits, snakes... all the usual scenary of a pet store. However, when we walked closer and read the signs attached to the cages, my world nearly died. On the rabbit cage, this was what the sign said:

"$22/kg"

It was a food store. Not a pet store. Food. Store. Live animals. Cats. Rabbits. *virtual dies*

Anyway, here are the photos of the animal parts that you don't see everyday at any old butcher's! May be a bit gross... just stay focused on the intriguing side of the story =)

Pork tongues and ox tails. Don't think I've tried either. Not sure if I want to either.

Pork feeeeet! These are like massive ham logs. Maybe about 10kg?

Ox tongue! It's spotty like cow skin! Lamb necks. So thick.

Braaaiinnnssssss ftw.

Yes... it was an experience. Other than the butcher's... I quite liked the market as a whole. It had a diner in the centre surrounded by various stores- fruit and vegetable stores, bakery, convenience store... just to name a few. It was awesome. I've never been to a market place like that before... so it was... an experience.

Thoughts: Loving my new jacket from Forever New. Loving the pink nail polish Lisan gave me. Can uni please not start next week. Dancing could so be my second job. Nice seeing old friends today, so much happy tears shed from laughing... feels awesome. Need to practice camwhoring skills... I'm loosing them!

Kitchenware FTW

That awesome apple corer.
That eccentric egg slicer.
That boastful bag clip.

Ahh... Love kitchenware.

To this day, the most nifty kitchen tools I have are the apple corer and egg slicer. I have yet finished collecting all the handy little tools for the kitchen. When I own my own home, my wardrobe and the kitchen shall take priority. I just love kitchenware. Slightly obsessed. Just slightly. Jane would know. Teehee.

One rainy winter day, a loving mother and her little daughter went for a tour of a departmental store. No aim, no purpose. Browsing, they would call it. After much wandering- and browsing- nearly all the sub-sections of the store was explored by these 2 aimless people. 1 section drew their attention the most- the section filled with blissful kitchenware.

Knives, brushes, pans, storage boxes, tins, plates, cutlery, even candles, gave their eyes a wonderful feast.

"Photos must be taken." though the little daughter to herself.
... and here they are!

Candle light. Get it? Candle, light. EGG SLICER FTW.

Battery run automatic can opener. Shower timer. Got carried away.

Tea bag squeezer- redundant much? Piping bag!

Bag clips... another redundant thing. Roast carrier... somewhat redundant too...

Avocado slicer, WOOOOO! Corn holders... holders?!?!?!

In the end, the mother and daughter bought a 12 cup muffin tray and some muffin paper holders. They then left the store, light on their feet, happily dancing away back into the rain... back home.

Teehee. Now that was one awesome day.
